At first, it might seem like obstacle course racing (OCR) is a male-dominated sport and activity. But the number of female OCR athletes continues to grow. And the truth is, OCR is for everyone, men and women alike!
Both men and women benefit from participating in obstacle course racing, and we want to encourage everyone to give it a try. But we also want to highlight a few reasons why women should give OCR a try.
1. You’ll boost your self-confidence.
If you struggle with feeling confident in yourself and doubt what you can do, OCR can help you gain self-confidence. When you first start training, you’ll face all kinds of challenges as you learn new movements and skills. But with consistent practice, you’ll learn a lot and become more proficient, and your confidence in yourself will grow.
2. You’ll improve your physical health and fitness.
Obstacle course training is a well-rounded physical activity that improves your physical health and fitness. This includes increased strength, endurance, speed, flexibility, coordination, and agility. OCR training gives you a full-body workout without ever stepping foot on a treadmill or sitting down at a weight machine.
3. You’ll form new friendships.
Starting a new activity like OCR allows you to meet a new group of people who share a common interest. It’s not always easy to meet new people or form new friendships as an adult. But, OCR training’s group environment makes it possible.
4. You’ll have fun.
We each need things in our lives that we look forward to doing every week. With so many options available, you’ll never know what you’ll be drawn to and end up really enjoying. OCR might wind up being just what you need, so why not give it a try?
